Walton Arts Center, home of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas and other arts groups, has appointed Carlos Vicente as vice president of marketing and sales, effective on April 1. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Vicente goes to Northwest Arkansas from the Grand Rapids Symphony, where he served as vice president of marketing and communications since 2021. Before that, Vicente was director of marketing and communications at Florida’s Sarasota Opera. He began his career in the performing arts with Sonata Productions in Rio de Janeiro in 1989. Vicente came to the United States for college, earning a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Texas Christian University. After completing a Master of Music in vocal performance at Rice University in Houston, he joined the Houston Symphony in 2006, eventually becoming director of marketing for subscriptions before leaving in 2013. He served on the constituency group leadership teams of marketing and public relations peer groups for the League of American Orchestras and has been a featured speaker and roundtable participant at conferences in the States as well as in Manaus, Brazil; Madrid, Spain; and Quito, Ecuador.
